Top 3 tips to prepare you for your boudoir session

Updated: Apr 4, 2023

A boudoir session is a great way to celebrate yourself! This special experience along with quality images will memorialize your life story for many years to come. Whether you are celebrating an age, marriage, milestone, or accomplishment these sessions are meant to tastefully document the importance of you. Here at Boudoir OC we believe in celebrating your beauty as you are! To help you look and feel your absolute best on the day of your photo shoot, here are a few tips to help you prepare.

TIP #1 GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

The night before you should be feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve because your excitement level is off the charts! But be sure to get your self some good sleep the night before so that you are feeling your best during the shoot!

*Day of tip: start your morning with a quick yoga stretch!

TIP #2 SKIN, HAIR & NAIL CARE

Taking care of our skin and hair are also forms of self love, and self care. It is a good idea to prep your hair and skin a few days before your shoot. If you're like me, and need to touch up your roots and trim some split ends every couple months, then I would suggest making an appointment at least a few days before your session to freshen up your hair. A visit to your hair stylist always leaves you feeling fresh and new doesn't it?! Chipped nail polish is a no no for photos! I suggest either no polish at all, or treat your self to a mani pedi within a week of your shoot. When it comes to your skin, keep it hydrated with a natural body lotion free of, sulfates, mineral oils, and dyes. Spray tans can occasionally look streaky in high res photos, and is not usually recommended, with editing and lighting I can give your skin a slight sun kissed look. If you shave or wax, make sure you give your skin enough time to heal

*Day of tip: wear loose comfy clothing when you arrive so that you avoid pressure lines on the skin! Drinking lots of water will help your skin glow, and can help eliminate pressure lines from clothes!

TIP #3 BRING SOMETHING TO WEAR

I recommend that you bring one or two outfits you know will fit you well, if you want to bring more that's great! I have a "client closet" full of options that you are welcome to try on and wear for the shoot! The client closet includes lingerie in sizes XS - to XXL and also includes props like body jewelry and angel wings. If you don't know where to start in deciding what to wear for your shoot we can help you create a mood board for some outfit inspiration. Boudoir sessions can be as casual or as fancy as you want!

*Day of tip: Relax and have fun!! This is a no pressure zone, and we take pride in creating a welcoming and laid back atmosphere.
